From urban trails to performance art, from installations to site specific scenography, multimedia formats are creating new idioms, and possibly a new aesthetics, of ‘thick mapping’. In this state-of-the-art review we have asked a panel of leading practitioners to talk about their current work.
Panel:

  • Sarah Butler
  • Adrian Chappell
  • Regner Ramos
  • Jennie Savage
  • John Wallett
  • Dominic Wilcox

Sarah’s work explores the relationship between writing and place through prose, poetry and participatory projects. Adrian is currently developing an art trail for Tate Britain. Regner’s work focuses on how GPS mobile apps are changing the use, understanding, and perception of urban spaces: Jennie does site specific work across a range of platforms and will talk about her ‘fracture mob’ mapping project. John’s work focuses on the educational interface between graphic design, social mapping and cultural geography. Dominic works between the worlds of art, design, craft and technology to create innovative and thought provoking objects.
